Question
Consumer Data Standards (CDS) Alternative Notification Schedules for Joint Accounts states "Rule 4A.14(3) requires data holders to (a) provide for alternative notification schedules (including reducing the frequency of notifications or not receiving notifications) and (b) give each joint account holder a means of selecting such an alternative, and of changing an election".
- Can the Data Standards Body (DSB) verify whether Rule 4A.14 (3) is also relevant for 4A.7 (3) and 4A.8 (2) which states "the data holder must, as soon as practicable through its ordinary means of contacting the other joint account holders"?
- Can the DH provide the customer the option to turn off all notifications in relation to both the consent dashboard and disclosure option management dashboard?
See:
- CDR Rules, main section, Part 4A - Joint Accounts, division 4A.2 disclosure options, section 4A.7 and 4A.8
- CDR Rules, main section, Part 4A - Joint Accounts, subdivision 4A.3.2 section 4A.14
Answer
Alternative settings under 4A.14 apply only to the following notifications:
- Requester (JAH A) has given, amended or withdrawn an authorisation
- Expiration of an authorisation
- A relevant account holder (JAH B) has not given approval within the relevant time frame
- A relevant account holder (JAH B) has withdrawn an approval
See Decision Proposal 162 regarding Customer Experience (CX) recommendations for joint account notifications. This proposal is approved and is now a decision.
