Question
Is it necessary to inform the regulator of planned or unplanned outages?
If so, are there associated guidelines?
Answer
There are no specific notification requirements to the regulator for outages. Information on availability and outages are required as part of standard reporting to the regulator and the regulator may request additional information. In addition, the standards include the Get Outages API which is expected to be implemented. Any planned outages reported via this API ahead of the outage can be considered a planned outage and excluded from consideration in availability metrics reporting.
