BankingScheduledPaymentTo nickname field

Question

In the BankingScheduledPaymentTo schema, there is a nickname field. This field is conditional, not optional. Is there a future dated obligation applicable to this field? Is it mandatory when the stated conditions apply?

Answer

The BankingScheduledPaymentTo nickname field description states that the bank SHOULD supply a nickname derived by the bank where the customer has not provided it.

There are no future dated obligations applicable. The nickname field was changed from mandatory to conditional because feedback indicated that the same payeeReference is not always applicable across the payment set. Responding with a payeeReference is compliant.
