Question

There are three endpoints for direct debits:

• Get Direct Debits For Account
• Get Bulk Direct Debits
• Get Direct Debits For Specific Accounts

The response to these includes the BankingDirectDebit schema. In that schema,  the lastDebitDateTime and lastDebitAmount fields are optional. The data for these fields needs to be captured from the transaction store.

Are we required to include these optional fields when providing the response to the direct debit APIs?

Answer

If you have the data, or can infer the data from the transactions, then it needs to be provided. These fields are optional only in the sense that, if the values are not available for a particular direct debit, they can be omitted.
