Introduction

National Meter Identifier (NMI)
The NMI (National Meter Identifier) is used by AEMO (Australian Energy Market Operator) to identify a service point. The NMI changes only when the physical meter device changes. A customer's NMI can change as a result of alterations to a service at a location, where the meter is replaced, or when the customer changes location.
servicePointId
The servicePointId is related to a given consent. Each servicePointId is also related to a specific NMI. The energy retailer issues the servicePointId in response to a request on an endpoint that requires a servicePointId. For example, a call to the Get Service Points API requires the Data Holder to generate a servicePointId.
If the account holder changes the consent for that property, the retailer issues a new servicePointId.
The servicePointId is created in accordance with ID permanence standards. See CDS, ID permanence.
A servicePointId can change due to a change of retailer, even though the NMI does not change. When an account holder changes retailer, all the consents established for data sharing with the previous retailer become invalid. The customer must provide new consents. For each consent the new retailer issues a new servicePointId.
