Question
Regarding DomesticPayeeCard:
- Is it intended for payments to be made directly to a card number?
- What potential channel could this be used? Postoffice, app etc?
- BPAY Payments?
- Could DomesticPayeeCard be used to retrieve a card number
If a Data Holder does not currently offer functionality to pay directly to a card, this API would not be relevant, but is marked mandatory - how should we proceed?
Answer
The payee
variant for Credit Card
payees is included to support the communication of payees for Data Holders that do support this payee type. It is, however, optional. If you only save payees for BPay and Direct Entry then you would only need to use the other two variants.
The API is mandatory because it was specifically designated in the designation instrument and expanded upon in the rules. The actual use cases for the API are up to the creativity and innovation of data recipients so I won't comment.
I would also note that the Payees end points respond with an array of payees in response to the parameters of the request. If any data holder does not support the payee types requested and/or the customer has no stored payees then the correct response should be an empty array in the payee
field.
