The DSB proposes the following convention:
Convention CDS-DC-0007
Current day SHOULD be interpeted as starting at the second after midnight in the timezone of the Data Holder, inline with the Data Holder's implementation of Convention CDS-DC-006 Timezone of metrics data.
Context
The current day is considered to start after the midnight epoch in the Data Holder's chosen timezone for metrics data reporting. If the Data Holder chooses a timezone other than recommended in convention CDS-DC-0006, Timezone of metrics data, current day would be represented in that timezone accordingly.
The current day value may be used by the ACCC for real-time monitoring of performance and operational management of the CDR.
The ACCC may also choose when and at what frequency they call Data Holders to collect metrics data, This means that the count of metrics in the current day is not necessarily representative of a full day's traffic.
Current day metrics are not guaranteed to be up to date to the second of the data request because ingestion and processing of log data may introduce latency delays in the accuracy of the current day data.
Longer term, the DSB sees the opportunity for Data Holders to publish their timezone in a Discovery Service for the information of the ACCC and ADRs. The DSB is actively consulting on solutions to introduce the Discovery Service capability.
