Omitting incomplete industry code

Question

In the case of the industryCode property in the CDS CommonOrganisation schema, if we have only the ANZSIC code to the 1st level of classification (e.g. A: Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing), is it acceptable to provide this?

Answer

Consistent with general advice from the DSB, if you can provide the required information in a valid type format then you should.  If you do not have enough information to fulfill the schema then the data is considered unavailable. 

For example, a phone number that has only an area code does not constitute a valid phone number.

In the case of industry code, if you are able to fulfill the standard for an ANZSIC code in one of the published versions then you should supply it.
